Japanese Media Admits Defeat After Unboxing Unitree G1, Says Humanoid Robots Can’t Catch Up to China Soon

Bot Telegraph, July 26th — According to CCTV News, Japan’s Nikkei xTECH website published a video on July 23rd showing Japanese technicians disassembling a G1 humanoid robot from China’s Unitree Robotics, attempting to explore its internal structure and technical level. In the video, the Japanese technicians and media reporters marveled at the high technical level of Chinese humanoid robots while disassembling it, and ultimately concluded that Chinese robot development has clearly moved beyond the “only for demonstration” stage. In the field of humanoid robots, it is “probably unrealistic” for Japan to close the gap with China in a short period of time. As previously reported by Bot Telegraph, GMO AI & Robotics Corporation (GMO AIR), a subsidiary of the GMO Internet Group, announced in June this year that the company had signed a cooperation agreement with Unitree Robotics, the “global market share leader” in humanoid robots, becoming Unitree’s official distributor in Japan. According to reports, GMO AIR will sell humanoid robot products such as the G1 and H1, as well as quadruped robot products like the Go 2 and B2, in the Japanese market. The company will also provide customers with complete solutions including communication services, cloud computing resources, cybersecurity capabilities, and financial services, and can offer R&D, verification experiments, and commercial application plans as needed.
