BYD Teases Humanoid Robot, Set for Early August Reveal

Bot Telegraph, July 26th – The WeChat official account “BYD D-Space | Zhengzhou Pavilion” yesterday released a suspenseful poster for a humanoid robot, hinting that the robot product will make its first public appearance in early August. BYD’s senior management had previously sent clear signals. Last month, BYD’s Executive Vice President Li Ke expressed the hope that in the future, every BYD store could deploy robots capable of introducing and demonstrating vehicles to customers. Li Ke stated that humanoid robots targeting the family and service industries will become a huge market for BYD. “My goal is to place two or three robots in every store. The robots can explain to customers, liven up the atmosphere, and even showcase and demonstrate vehicles.” Li Ke predicted that robot sales consultants could become practically applicable within the next one or two years. However, while showroom robots can participate in sales, they cannot replace the “emotional connection” between human sales staff and customers. “We still need human employees, but robot technology can help us further improve our services.” Previously, online rumors suggested that BYD’s self-developed humanoid robot, codenamed “Yao Shun Yu,” was planned for internal deployment of 20,000 units by 2026. Regarding this, BYD stated that the related information is not true. As a science popularization and experience venue built by BYD for the public, D-Space has a functional positioning for offline physical interactive displays. The industry widely expects that the appearance in early August will no longer be a conceptual-level technology release but the debut of a physically operable prototype. Currently, humanoid robots have become a strategic track for global tech giants to compete in. Compared to companies with pure software or internet backgrounds, BYD, relying on its vertically integrated manufacturing system, supply chain management capabilities, and mechatronics technology accumulation established in the new energy vehicle field, is regarded by the industry as a participant with differentiated competitive advantages.
