Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Reports 12.3% YoY Growth in Robot and Smart Manufacturing Output for First Half of Year

According to the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA), the economic performance report for the first half of 2026 has been released, with multiple indicators showing stable growth: the regional gross domestic product reached 196.78 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. The output value growth rates for the new-generation information technology, robotics, and intelligent manufacturing industries all achieved double-digit figures. The total import and export volume amounted to 118.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.8%. Data indicates that the total industrial output value of the BDA in the first half of the year approached 360 billion yuan, with the supporting role of the industry continuing to stand out. The combined output value of leading industries, including new-generation information technology, biotechnology and big health, high-end automobiles and new energy intelligent vehicles, robotics, and intelligent manufacturing, accounted for over 90% of the district’s total industrial output value. The output value of the new-generation information technology industry grew by 37.5% year-on-year, while the robotics and intelligent manufacturing industry saw a year-on-year increase of 12.3%. The scale of future industries such as quantum information, bio-manufacturing, fusion energy, brain science and brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G communication has steadily expanded. Enterprise R&D and innovation have grown rapidly. In the first half of the year, R&D investment by large and medium-sized enterprises increased by nearly 30%, with 13 new products in Beijing achieving the status of “first-of-their-kind” (首台套), ranking first in the city.
