Smart Competition for the Future! The First CMG Intelligent Robot Application Skills Exhibition Kicks Off

On July 28, the inaugural Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition of China Media Group was launched in Beijing. The event aims to showcase new skills, connect new demands, expand new scenarios, and promote the implementation of intelligent robots in more fields, injecting new momentum into China’s economic and social development.

Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and President of China Media Group; Ke Jixin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology; Chen Min, Vice Minister of Emergency Management; Fan Yun, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group; Xu Xiaolan, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Full-time Vice Chairperson of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, President of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and Commander-in-Chief of the World Robot Conference; He Zhongwei, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government; Wang Guiying, Vice Governor of Shandong Provincial People’s Government; Xu Niansha, President of China Machinery Industry Federation, and other officials attended the event and jointly launched the exhibition.

In his speech, Fan Yun stated that with the strong support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Media Group innovatively launched the inaugural Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition. This is another concrete practice to deeply implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, promoting the upward and benevolent development of artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. This marks a crucial leap from stage performance to practical application, a two-way journey from technological innovation to industrial development, and a future launch from platform building to ecosystem co-construction. China Media Group will continue to uphold the spirit of “even an elephant must learn to breakdance,” adhere to the innovative concept of integrating thought, art, and technology, build a matrix of intelligent robot products, and witness, record, and accelerate the innovation pace of China’s intelligent manufacturing.

Ke Jixin stated in his speech that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has thoroughly implemented the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, strengthened top-level design, promoted technological breakthroughs, facilitated large-scale applications, improved the industrial ecosystem, and actively driven the innovative development of the embodied intelligence industry. This application skills exhibition, aimed at bridging industrial supply and market demand, provides an excellent platform for showcasing embodied intelligence products in real production and living environments. Moving forward, the Ministry will focus on innovation breakthroughs to solidify the cornerstone of industrial development; deepen scenario implementation to smooth the fast track of application-driven development; optimize the innovation ecosystem to create a new landscape of openness and win-win cooperation; and continue to deepen cooperation with China Media Group and other relevant units to jointly promote humanoid robots and other embodied intelligence products into thousands of industries, injecting strong momentum into advancing new industrialization and cultivating new quality productive forces.

“Intelligent Competition for the Future”—the inaugural Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition focuses on key scenarios such as production and manufacturing, maintenance, catering and retail, healthcare and elderly care, and emergency rescue. It allows intelligent robots to be tested and improve their skills in real environments, achieving a hardcore upgrade from “showcasing tricks” to “being ready for work.” At the launch event, multiple intelligent robots in industrial, service, and special fields were unveiled, including the nation’s first embodied intelligent robot for flood and typhoon prevention, “AI Flood Warrior,” and the first large-scale traffic management robot squadron member, “Hangzhou Police Smart Patrol.”

The Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition will also build a platform for industry-demand matching through live demonstrations, data releases, case sharing, and innovation competitions, promoting the implementation of more innovative achievements and enabling more embodied intelligent robots to enter real scenarios to serve industries and audiences. Representatives from provinces and cities such as Zhejiang, Hubei, and Jiangsu released landmark application scenarios for humanoid robots and embodied intelligent live training on-site.

From factory workshops to street corners, from disaster relief frontlines to homes, intelligent robots are deeply embedded in various fields of economic and social development. At the event, the “Vitality Data of China’s Industrial Robot Market” was released. The data shows that China’s self-branded industrial robots have been applied across 253 subcategories of the national economy, with domestic market sales growing at an average annual rate of 29% over the past five years. In 2025, the export scale of industrial robots exceeded imports for the first time, with products sold to 156 countries and regions. China’s intelligent manufacturing is accelerating its entry into the global market.

“Intelligent New Collaboration: Eight Major Trends in Robot Evolution” was also released on the same day. Empowering thousands of industries with artificial intelligence, robot application scenarios continue to expand, generally presenting eight major development trends: foundation reconstruction, intelligent leap, cluster collaboration, full-domain penetration, human-machine integration, ecosystem reshaping, business model innovation, and safety fencing.

With the launch of “Intelligent Competition for the Future”—the inaugural Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition, multiple live demonstrations will be rolled out across the country. On the event day, the inaugural CMG World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition was also launched. The competition will use the hiking trail from Tai Mountain’s Red Gate to Zhongtian Gate as the track, making Tai Mountain’s complex environment a natural extreme testing ground for embodied intelligent live training, testing robots’ capabilities in perception and decision-making, operational execution, environmental adaptation, and reliable operation.
