Hubei Establishes Embodied Intelligence Talent Training Base

The Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center has established Hubei’s first specialized talent cultivation platform for embodied intelligence, covering all educational stages and the entire industrial chain. It is dedicated to building an integrated talent supply ecosystem encompassing government, industry, academia, research, and application. The platform aims to provide customized training services for individuals at different levels, forming a full-cycle talent cultivation chain to support the development of the embodied intelligence industry.

The platform will conduct research visits and science popularization exchanges for primary and secondary school students as well as the general public, helping them build foundational industry knowledge. For vocational college students, it will offer 2 to 3 months of hands-on training in robot operation, deployment, and maintenance, with job placement recommendations upon completion. Additionally, it will provide practical courses such as robot secondary development and algorithm training for researchers and working engineers, with training periods ranging from 60 days to one year.

In his keynote report titled “Future Industries and the Cultivation of New Engineering Talent,” Liu Sheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed out that by 2025, the talent gap in China’s high-end CNC machine tools and robotics sectors is expected to reach 4.5 million, with high demand for positions such as robot operation and maintenance engineers and AI trainers. He emphasized that the current layout of university disciplines is just beginning, and this year, the Ministry of Education included “embodied intelligence” in the undergraduate catalog for the first time, with nine universities nationwide enrolling their first cohorts. The curriculum system is still being restructured, and there is a widespread shortage of faculty and training equipment. Liu Sheng believes that a new approach to cultivating layered, systematic, and composite talents is needed to address the mismatch between fragmented disciplinary training and the full-chain engineering demands.

To address this challenge, the base simultaneously launched the “Starry Talent Plan” during its inauguration ceremony. Over 20 companies, including Songyan Dynamics, Chengxin Zhilian, Sugon, FANUC, Granrobo Robot, and Huawei Technology, will jointly explore an “order-based” targeted cultivation model. This will enable enterprises to deeply participate in the entire talent cultivation process, providing training students with internship positions, project practice, and green channels for employment. Eleven Hubei universities, including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan Software Engineering Vocational College, and Hubei Vocational College of Science and Technology, signed co-construction agreements on-site. They will leverage the base to jointly build professional training classrooms, develop courses, and share faculty teams, breaking down barriers between university teaching and industrial training.

The event also unveiled three core achievements: a new series of textbooks on embodied intelligence, the “fabric glove” product along with its data collection training solution, and the embodied intelligence education platform. Among these, the “fabric glove” released by Shouzhi Innovation is equipped with 45 high-precision fingertip tactile points, with a frame loss rate of less than 3% in large-scale applications. It is currently being used in scenarios such as industrial assembly, medical inspection, and catering retail.
